ComfyUI's Open Source Higgsfield Challenge Offers $25,000 in Prizes
Comfy Org's Open Source Higgsfield challenge puts $25,000 in prizes behind open-source rebuilds of apps like Genjutsu on the Comfy Developer Platform, open to October 30.
Comfy Org's launch video for the Open Source Higgsfield competition.
"Higgsfield promised to open source their entire platform. They didn't, so let's help them." That is the opening line of the announcement Comfy Org published on October 15, and it sets the brief for the next two weeks: take a creative feature that normally sits behind a subscription, rebuild it in the open on the Comfy Developer Platform, and publish the repository so anyone can run it, fork it and improve it.
What entrants are asked to build
The brief names Genjutsu and Cinema Studio as examples worth rebuilding, and leaves the rest open. What a submission has to be is a working creative app with a usable interface and example outputs, rather than a workflow export: a repository with the app code, the workflow files and instructions to run it locally, plus a demo video of two minutes at most so the judges can see it working without setting it up themselves.
Every entry must be built on the Comfy Developer Platform, which Comfy defines as the Comfy API, Comfy Router and/or the Comfy SDK. Submissions must be lawful, SFW, and free of unlicensed IP or likenesses.
Prizes
| Prize | Award | What it goes to |
|---|---|---|
| Grand Prize | $10,000 cash | Best overall build; every entry is considered automatically |
| Most Innovative | GeForce RTX 5090 | An app that has never been done, novel custom node packs, or unexpected uses of ComfyUI |
| Most Viral | GeForce RTX 5090 | Delightful to use and made to be shared |
| Open Weights Only | GeForce RTX 5090 | Best build with no partner nodes or APIs, open-weight models only |
| 10 runner-ups | $250 in Comfy credits each |
Model partners add three bonus tracks on top of the main categories:
| Bonus | Award | Condition |
|---|---|---|
| VFX Workflow Built with LTX | $2,000 cash | LTX as the core video model of the workflow |
| Built with FLUX | $1,000 / $500 / $250 in FLUX API credits | FLUX 3 as the core model of the workflow |
| Built with MiniMax H3 | $1,000 in MiniMax API credits | MiniMax H3 as the core model of the workflow |
The competition is backed by NVIDIA, Runpod, LTX, Black Forest Labs and MiniMax.
Key dates
The build window opened on October 15 and closes on October 30 at 9am PT, when submissions are due. Two in-person build nights run inside it: October 28 at Frontier Tower in San Francisco with the Comfy team, and October 29 in Los Angeles with AI On The Lot. Winners are announced on November 6, and winning entries are featured on comfy.org/hub with credit.
One of the example apps Comfy points at, Cinema Studio, published on the Comfy Hub with its workflow and build notes.
How to enter
Record a demo video
Two minutes at most, in case the judges cannot get the entry running themselves.
Add a link to try it
