Comfy Is Now the Official Reseller of MiniMax H3 Commercial Licenses

Comfy announced that it is now the first official reseller of MiniMax H3 commercial-use licenses, in partnership with MiniMax (official blog | license page). If you run MiniMax H3 locally for business, client work, products, or anything commercial, you now buy the commercial license directly through Comfy. If you do not use the models commercially, nothing changes: the weights remain open, free to download and run locally.

What the license covers

Every H3 commercial license purchased through Comfy includes:

• Full commercial rights to your outputs: everything you generate is yours to use, sell, and ship.
• Fine-tuning and LoRA training: training the model on your characters, styles, or products is fully allowed.
• Client and downstream work: agencies and studios can use H3 for customer projects.
• MiniMax Audio & Music: the licenses also cover MiniMax's audio and music models, not just video.

There are two plans: a Professional plan and an Enterprise plan. Enterprise customers get access to every H3 model version, including undistilled weights and new releases as they ship. Plan details and pricing are on the license page.

One limitation worth noting: these licenses cover building your own products and content. They do not cover running an inference platform or marketplace that resells H3 access to others.

What stays free

The open-weight status of MiniMax H3 is unchanged. Anyone can still download the weights, run them locally, fine-tune them, and build with them at no cost for non-commercial use. Comfy Cloud subscribers already have commercial rights included in their subscription, so nothing to buy there either.

Forward Deployed Creatives

Alongside the licensing program, Comfy introduced Forward Deployed Creatives: Comfy experts who embed with your team, train LoRAs on your style, build production workflows in your environment, and teach your team to run, modify, and extend what they build. Whatever they build stays with you. This is aimed at studios licensing H3 for serious commercial production who want help getting from "we have the model" to "we're shipping with it".

Why Comfy is doing this

Comfy's stated motivation is keeping open-weight models viable: training frontier models is expensive, and labs like MiniMax need a real revenue path to fund the next generation of open models. MiniMax H3 has been downloaded through Comfy close to 20 million times, and the community ran it in ComfyUI on day zero. Reselling commercial licenses gives the lab income from commercial users while keeping the weights free for everyone else.
