Tencent has officially released Hunyuan3D 2.0, a large-scale asset generation system focused on creating high-resolution 3D models from text and images. The system employs a two-stage generation process, first creating untextured geometric models, then synthesizing high-resolution texture maps, effectively separating the complexity of shape and texture generation.

Core System Components

Hunyuan3D 2.0 contains two main core components:

  1. Hunyuan3D-DiT (Geometry Generation Model): Based on a flow diffusion Transformer architecture, it generates untextured geometric models that precisely match input conditions. This component particularly emphasizes geometric detail accuracy, capable of capturing key features from input images.
  2. Hunyuan3D-Paint (Texture Synthesis Model): Combines geometric conditions and multi-view diffusion techniques to add high-resolution textures to models, supporting PBR materials. This component generates high-quality textures that match the shape, making the final model more realistic.

Recently (March 18, 2025), Hunyuan3D 2.0 also introduced a multi-view shape generation model (Hunyuan3D-2mv), which supports generating more detailed geometric structures from inputs at different angles, particularly useful for creating complex objects.
